CCRO Corner

The Committee of Chief Risk Officers (CCRO) is an independent, non-profit organization of energy-industry participants focused on advancing best practices in risk management. CCRO’s work spans credit, liquidity, accounting, operations, audit, compliance, and the evolving risk implications of energy transition.

I serve on the CCRO Board and act as Corporate Secretary. In that capacity, I participate in shaping CCRO initiatives and working-group discussions addressing credit risk, market structure, energy-transition exposure, and compliance and governance challenges facing trading and asset-owning organizations.

Additional information about CCRO and its membership can be found on the organization’s official website.

Selected White Papers and Working Materials

  • Overview of Transition Risk Management
CCRO white paper examining transition-related financial, operational, and market risks for energy companies, including scenario analysis and governance considerations (published January 2025).
  • Credit Risk in Emerging Energy Markets
CCRO working-group draft addressing credit exposure, counterparty structures, and evolving risk controls in emerging and transitional energy markets (under member review).

Related Conferences and Member Meetings

Many CCRO themes are explored in greater depth through industry conferences and CCRO member meetings. I maintain a separate conferences page that tracks selected events relevant to trading, credit, compliance, and energy-transition risk.

Recent and recurring events frequently covering CCRO-related topics include:

  • CERAWeek by S&P Global — global energy conference addressing policy, markets, capital allocation, and technology.
  • FIA Commodities Conference — derivatives-focused conference covering regulatory developments, clearing, and risk management in commodity markets.
